CDMA is Dying, Telkom Shuts Down Flexi

After planning for quite some time, Telkom finally decided to shut down Flexi, their CDMA based service. The reason, the CDMA bisnis is going down. At Q1 2014, their subscribers only 4,1 million number. Even it looked a lot, on the previous year, the subscribers stil 15,5 million number with ARPU of IDR17 thousand.

For this 4 million users, Telkom will switch them to prepaid As service from Telkomsel, their subsidiary company that operates GSM service. For current Flexi subscribers that spend average IDR20 thousand per month, they will get phone credits as compensation. Above that, they will get device replacement.

After leaving their CDMA business, Telkom will focus on WiFi ID, a WiFi hot spot services that offers more opportunity for the company.

I wonder what kind of handset they provide for loyal Flexi users. iPhone 6, perhaps?
