For the First Time, Tablet PC Shipment is Down

According to research firm NPD DisplaySearch, within the first three months of 2014, worldwide tablet shipment reached 56 million units. The number is lower than the same quarter of last year, which is 59 million units.

NPD said, the cause of the problem is that end users currently prefers larger sized smartphone (phone-tablet or phablet) compared to tablet. Other factor is that no new major release of tablet device from big brands such as Apple or Samsung.

Still according to NPD, the growth of tablet market will be slowing down in the coming years. One of the reason is that the tablet users are beginning to act like notebook users. They rarely replace their notebook and not to buy a new one very often.
